The Student Academic Success Services (SASS) at the University of Ottawa (U of O) is a service true to its name: they help students succeed academically. One aspect of SASS is their Experiential Learning Service (ELS) that allows the students of the University of Ottawa to learn outside the classroom setting "to actively apply their university studies to real world situation, and in ways that benefit the community and not-for-profit organizations."
Having participated in SASS-ELS myself, I can genuinely say that it was a great experience as it has developed my skill sets and increased my knowledge in many ways. SASS – ELS has also led me to register with them as a community partner to provide volunteer opportunities for the next generation of U of O students.
I am happy to inform you that Dr. Jeffrey Keshen, a full professor and Chair of the Department of History, continues to provide Begin 2 Believe with SASS – ELS funding in order to support and appreciate volunteers for their hard work!
